San Diego Part 4

This is the panoramic view of beautiful Ocean Beach taken from the dining room deck.  This lonely palm stood as a beacon on the hill overlooking the beach.  Several sailboats, we assume a regatta and a submarine on manouevers in the bay were sighted at different times during the week.  Sunsets were beautiful, the best being the night we went to the evening outdoor market and I didn't have my camera with me.
I took this last photo hoping to capture the flock of parrots that arrived a couple of times a day...very noisily, but unfortunately it is difficult to tell which are the branches and which are the parrots...they camouflage so well.  Look closely to the left of centre and you can imagine some fluttering wings.  Beautiful to see, but not melodious to hear!

San Diego Part 3

Food Prep om the Wok

The very best part of this family vacation was, no matter that we went in different directions during the day, we always came home to a home-cooked meal and ate together around the dining table.  Meals were oven baked, bbq'd, crockpotted, and woked.  Kendra demonstrates her cooking skills using the gas fired wok...the results? Delicious!  We certainly ate well but of course much of our day saw us outdoors and quite active,so we gained a ravenous appetite.  It was fun fooding together...I didn't take a picture, but for one of our meals, Ryan was preparing the meat, I was cutting veggies for a salad and Nadine and Kendra were mashing the potatoes, all of us around the island.  What a precious special memory!  That has not happened for a very long time!  Hope it happens again, and soon!

San Diego Part 2

A kitchen like no other
Main Livingroom

Stained glass that played with the sunlight
This well equipped kitchen was absolutely  beautiful and like no other.  A gas powered Wolfe stove. an gas wok, an electric wall oven, an  island with its own sink and garburator, huge counter and meal preparation space, all outfitted with a copper ship theme...fan, lighting, and recycling container which was originally used as a ship's water container.   The view?  Priceless!  The photos show the rest of the main living area.  More to come!

San Diego and Christmas with the Whole Family Part 1

This is the beautiful San Diego home we rented
on Naragansett Dr with beautiful vistas
of Ocean Beach.  The main floor entrance was huge and led to 3 bedrooms and a bathroom.  Off the entrance was a bar and huge family room.
A flight of stairs ascended to the main living quarters of a well equipped kitchen to die for with a stunning view, an adjoining dining area that comfortably seated all of us, a living room and a master bedroom with walkin closet and adjoining bedroom.  A flight of stairs off the upper deck led to the rooftop hot tub.
Quite the house!  Not cheap, but many memories were created here in our week.  More pics to follow of the interior and the family who enjoyed it.
